Excavationin Oak Creek & Routt County

Foundations, driveways, grading and the digs nobody else wants to quote. We show up early, leave the site clean, and tell you straight what it'll take.

What we do

If it needs a hole or a flat spot.

Most dirt jobs are simple on paper and complicated once the ground is open. We price what we can see, tell you what we can't, and call you before anything changes the bill.

  • Foundations

Digs for new homes, additions, garages and shops, cut to the plans, with the spoil put somewhere that makes sense for the backfill.

  • Driveways & parking areas

New driveways, widened ones, and parking pads. Cut, base, gravel and drainage, so it still drives the same after spring runoff.

  • Grading & site prep

Building pads, slopes that shed water away from the house, and rough and finish grading before landscaping.

  • Culverts & drainage

Culverts under driveways, ditches, and fixing the spot where water keeps ending up in the garage.

  • Custom digs

Trenches for power and conduit, footings for gates and signs, a hole for a pond. If it's underground or needs to be, ask.

  • Metro district work

Hydrant and water main repairs for a local metro district.

Straight answers

What people ask.

The questions that come up at nearly every walk-through, answered the same way we'd answer them on site.

Where we work: Oak Creek, Phippsburg, Yampa, Stagecoach, Steamboat Springs and the rest of Routt County.

Do you call in utility locates?
Yes, through Colorado 811, before every dig. 811 only marks public utilities, though. Private lines like sprinklers, wells, and power or water running to a shop or barn aren't marked, so tell us where yours are, or we'll help you find someone who can locate them.
How much does excavation cost?
It depends on the dig, the ground and the access, so we don't quote over email. The first hour's free: we walk the site with you and tell you what it'll take. After that you get a written estimate. Invoices follow the actual hours and materials at the estimate's rates, and you'll hear from us before anything goes over.
Will you tear up my yard?
Machines are heavy, and the path in can rut a lawn. We plan the route with you, lift and save sod where it's worth saving, and put what we can back. If restoration is part of the job, it's a line on the estimate, so there are no surprises about what's included.
Why is my backfilled trench sinking?
All backfill settles some, even compacted in lifts the way we do it. A little settling the first spring is normal. We compact to keep it small, and topping it off later is a quick job.
Can you dig in winter?
Sometimes. Frozen ground is slower and costs more, and some work depends on inspections that don't happen in January. We'll tell you whether yours is worth doing now or worth waiting for.
